Uptown Chalk the Block is Western PA’s First and Oldest Street Painting Festival set in quaint Uptown Somerset, PA.
The 2025 Festival Dates are July 25, 26 & 27!
It’s all about live art with 20+ professional chalk artists, emerging and youth artist competitions, live music, art demonstrations, free kids activities, food and drinks, a 5k run/walk, and so much more!
CAMP SOCO
This year’s theme is CAMP SOCO (Somerset County). Think all things camp, kayaks, outdoors, s’mores, and childhood memories. We can’t wait to see the streets of Somerset turn into a canvas. Make sure to use #ColorSomersetPa and #UptownChalkTheBlock and tag us!

3PM - 7PM: Laurel Highlands Model Railroad Club
Check out one of Somerset’s most classic clubs – an entire building full of model trains and miniature replicas of historic rail lines. This is one of the coolest stops in Somerset – a can’t miss! There is a small admission fee to help support the club – free 12 and under, 12 and up $5.

4 PM- 8 PM Christmas in July at the Library with Santa
Join us starting at 4:00 PM, when Santa will be here to visit with children before taking a short break for the parade. He’ll be back after the parade and staying until 8:00 PM to continue spreading holiday cheer!
We’ll have fun activities for kids, including cookie decorating, and Stacie’s Sweets & Eats will be joining us along with other amazing local businesses.
Children who receive their library card from Santa will get to ring a special bell to celebrate the moment!
📬 Santa’s Mailbox is also arriving next week, just in time for those wish lists!
We’ve lined up a photographer to capture the magic, and there’s a very special surprise in store—courtesy of one of our newest Friends of the Library. You won’t want to miss it!
6PM: SoCo Summer Parade By Laurel Arts!
The SoCo Summer Parade Steps off at 6PM and Rolls down Main Street! See Dancers, Twirlers, Firetrucks, Floats and all the joys of a classic summer parade.

7-8:30PM: Matt Otis And The Sound Concert On The Diamond
For the first time, experience a concert played right in the street on the Diamond in Uptown Somerset. The musical stylings of Matt Otis and The Sound will have you dancing – and with the streets closed – you can twirl right on the iconic, historic town center!

Enter the Free Youth Chalk Art Competition and Chalk Wild Somerset OR come and see the incredible talent in the different youth age groups.
Check out Somerset Christian School’s Middle School Choir kicking off our competition with some Patriotic songs at 7 AM!

Adults enter the Adult Chalk Competition and are given spaces all throughout the community. It’s free to enter and we are always wowed by the incredible talent in this group and their gifted skills to all the viewers who enjoy their work.

9-1PM : SoCo Farmer's Market
Meet producers and makers at the SoCo Farmer’s Market! The market features local farmers and fresh goods as well as artisan wares. Score honey, locally-made (and grown) garlic seasonings, local eggs, Somerset County wine, and more.

5K Run/Walk Merchandise Sneak Peek
Join us for a 3-mile run or walk through the closed streets of Uptown Somerset, featuring vibrant chalk art along the way! Kick things off by adding your own chalk design, and celebrate at the finish line with a tie-dye station, a wellness juice shot, and prizes for top finishers. Each race finisher will receive LMNT Salt Packets from Mindful Body Wellness.
